Thank you for visiting our Vocations website! Please know that the Office of Vocations is here to assist young men and women with any questions they may have regarding priesthood, religious life, interest in applying to seminary, and vocational discernment in general.
I highly recommend that any young man discerning the priesthood begin by having conversations with the pastor of his home parish. He will be able to best guide and accompany you, especially within the early stages of your discernment.
It is also important that, as you begin to ask the Lord what His will is for your life, that you spend time in silent prayer, growing in your love for Him and learning how to hear his promptings.
On behalf of the Office of Vocations, please know of our prayers! You may contact me at: [email protected]. God Bless!
Fr. Jack Pfeiffer
Associate Director
Hello! My name is Fr. Jack Pfeiffer, and this is my first year in the role of Associate Director of the Office of Vocations. I grew up in Otsego with my parents and a younger brother and sister. We were parishioners of St. Margaret's. After high school, I went to Michigan State with my sights set on becoming a doctor. However, in my freshman year, I had a powerful encounter with God's mercy in confession, and Christ immediately became the center of my life. Two years later, it started to become clear to me that the Lord was instead calling me to become a healer of souls, a priest. I was ordained in 2023 after six years of seminary in Detroit. These three years as a priest have been the happiest of my life, and I am so grateful to the Lord for the gift of the priesthood. In addition to my priestly duties, I also love backpacking, board games, and trying new foods (both to cook and to eat). I also recently ran my first full marathon.
Fr. Andrew Schmidt
Associate Director
Hello! My name is Fr. Andrew Schmidt, and this is my first year in the role of Associate Director of the Office of Vocations. I was ordained a priest in June of 2024, and since then, I have been assigned to St. Augustine Cathedral as Parochial Vicar. I grew up in St. Joseph, MI, and before seminary, I attended Franciscan University of Steubenville. I enjoy playing and watching sports, hiking and backpacking, and reading. I have very much enjoyed my time as a priest, and it has been inspiring to work with all those in our diocese who are discerning where God may be calling them. Please reach out if you might be wondering about that too!
